A lost ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ song will be included in the new version of the film.
The beloved Christmas classic, ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol,’ is set to add back in a lost piece of history. When it first launched back in 1992, a song under the title ‘When Love is Gone’ was supposed to appear. Evidently, it didn’t as Disney opted to axe the song due to the mature topics.
‘When Love is Gone’ was never completely lost since the song does make an appearance in VHS copies of the classic. DVD copies weren’t so lucky, though, and what’s more, both the video master and negatives went missing.
Director, Brian Henson, was ecstatic for new-generation fans can experience the melancholy melody. The film, which is sung by Scrooge’s fiancée, Belle, is a melody that, at its heart, was about Scrooge and his workaholic tendencies. Disney opted to pull the film with producer, Jeffrey Katzenberg, calling it too “sophisticated emotionally” for a young audience to comprehend.
It’s hard to say if Disney Plus will air the restored ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ or not.
